Leadership Development (FPM)
File description:
Calling all leaders! Leadership Development Programme (LDP) 2nd Phase launched. This LDP programme is designed to develop leaders of the future. It is aimed at managers in third sector organisations and local authority services for young people who are ready to take the next step up in to formal positions of leadership. The programme aims to build capacity in the sector. It is therefore less relevant to managers who are in the later stages of their careers or those that have already completed leadership development programmes.
File detailed information:
Background: The Leadership Development Programme is part of a series of programmes for managers and leaders in the young people’s workforce. It is specifically for middle managers in third sector and local authority services who are ready to become the service leaders of the future. Successful participants will play a crucial role as champions for the wider reform programme within the young people’s workforce.
There are only 150 places available in Phase 2 of the programme, allocated to statutory and third sector organisations. Delivery will be through 6 regional cohorts. We expect demand for this programme to be very high. If you are interested, we suggest you apply immediately. Courses will run between April and June 2010. How to apply: Please visit www.fpmonline.co.uk. Please read the Application Form (below) which will offer you guidance on selection criteria and the ways in which you can apply. Should you wish to apply please download this form, complete and then submit it to FPM Training. Project Safe Space North West
File description:
This document is a set of instructions for delivering a youth work programme to give young people a safe space to talk about violent extremism and terrorism. It was designed by young people at conference, so that youth organisations can work with young people to deliver similar work based on the learning from this event.
File detailed information:
This project started through a conference for young people from across the North West which took place in spring 2009. It was part of a series of similar events across the country. The conference aimed to give young people a safe space to talk about violent extremism and terrorism initiated by young people through the work of the North West Regional Youth Work Unit, UK Youth Parliament and supporting Youth Services.
It was designed and delivered by young people who identified as being from predominantly “White British” and “Muslim British” backgrounds working with support from youth workers from Youth Services across the North West. It consisted of a programme of workshops and activities followed by a debate between young people and decisions makers such as Senior Police Officers.
Many of the young people who attended the event, expressed a desire to deliver similar events in their own areas. The programme can be delivered by professionals working with young people or, groups of young people can be supported to deliver it to their peers.
